We are so excited to add a visual arts component to this year's Shine On! There are so many talented Catholic school students - we can't wait to see their incredible creations!

  • The CSCOE Shine On Visual Arts competition is open to students in grades 4-8 attending Catholic elementary schools in the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis.

  • Each school may enter up to ten (10) pieces of artwork. The artwork should be considered the “Best of school”. You may want to have a school competition to narrow down choices.

  • Works submitted must have been created within one year of the competition – March 1, 2020.

  • A teacher or principal from the school will need to verify that the work was created by the student submitting it.

  • 2D and 3D works are accepted and need to be under 2’x2’.

  • 2D work should be mounted on tag board and have some type of a hanging ring or hook on the back. Canvas paintings or anything similar do not need to be mounted on tag board but should have a hook or string on the back.

  • Copyright Law: Any artwork that depicts copyrighted images will not be accepted. This includes artwork depicting characters from television shows, movies, video games, or books.

  • One entry per student. Only works by individuals will be accepted. No group projects.

  • The theme of this competition is open.

  • We encourage students to create and submit art that is classical, biblical or contemporary and shows creativity and individual expression.

  • Pieces that depict violence, gore, adult themes or weapons (unless it is a Biblical reference) will not be accepted.
